Know your business.

Involve the right people.

Life's oldest truth, it’s not what you know its who you know. Tempt your CEO with what they could have if only you had a better intelligence tool. Executives love simplicity, solutions not problems, more information, more detailed data preferrably graphed. Better business intelligence will really help them understand the business better.

Makes sure it all works together.

Ask your Vendor the tough questions, prepare your list. Will it connect to Excel, ORACLE, SAP DATA, SQL Files, Office etc.
There is lots of data in organisation and you will need to connect to all of it. Get your Business Intelligence Vendor to show you and provide reference's.

Publish it correctly.

You need hear from users how they want to see the data and then be ready for them to change their mind. Which means you need to be prepared and very flexible. After nearly 30 years people are still going to want spreadhsheets.

Be prepared to support users.

Make sure you have plans to support the users after the implementation.  After 20 years in implementing IT systems we are still amazed at the organisation who think you install, train and implement a new IT system and then just leave it expecting it to be a success.
