Tableau Business Intelligence - The first time you see it.

Tableau Business Intelligence Software - Making you look good.

We have just completed a hectic couple of weeks working on the Business Intelligence software Tableau. It is a presentors dream Tableau BI or Tableau business intelligence depending on your inclinations. It's give the audience what they want to see immediately. Reports, flexibility, Graphics, sliders, any which want you want. And best of all you can change it in a second. And best of all its real easy to use.

Tableau - The Presentation itself

It's taken months to get here, Head of Finance of a Bank and Chief Operations guy. Usual chit chat, hopefully some nice coffee. Can't wait to get started because that's when they realy start smiling, they it see clear as a bell immediately. Data visualised, connect to Excel and superb graphics immediately. Even they could produce snazzy looking reports quickly and easily. Loads of questions, more smiling and on we go. Always the same issue, loads of systems, too much data not being used and they need reports, reports and more reports.

Meeting Large Financial Company or Bank.

With Banks  it depends on which division you meet, with the Financial Department,  It’s all about drilling down into the ledger code in ORACLE or SAP usually to get the granular details quickly then  pivot and present the data so they can actually use it meaningfully. Sales Departments want to see customers activity, profitability, Margin, product mix, geographical tendencies with Sliders.

Meeting the Manufacturer.

This week we visited a mid sized manufacturer with 250 employees running Exchequer Financials and SAP on its way in a year or so. Numerous other systems supporting Scheduling, Production Control etc. And of course Excel,  Crystal Report everywhere in the business. The Supply Chain team want “On time” delivery details, Production Control wants to monitor the lines with early warnings for failures, bottlenecks, beneath tolerance run rates etc. The Commercial director wants to ditch Excel which he overuses. The General Manager wants to spend less time chasing his tail to get into some serious business issue.
