Tableau/Qlikview, why do they compare to chocolate?

Qlikview Tableau - A comparison.

We'll get to the Chocolate reference in another paragraph, however we were asked this week to tell readers the difference between, Qlikview and Tableau business intelligence software. Bearing in mind MXI is a Tableau Partner in London and Dublin. So we researched Qlikview forums and Tableau forums and tabulated the answers. And it could boil down to this unsophisticated answer, QlikTech is a great Company worthy of anyones business and Tableau Softwareis an extraordinary product on the march. TABLEAU UK - FREE DOWNLOAD

Tableau / Qlikview Comparison.

Internet chatter rates Qlikview as using a more traditional BI means of connecting with data than Tableau. Using Qlikview you go through a classic 'Extract, Transformation and Load' process whereas in Tableau the 'connect to data' is easier to undertake.

Tableau looks better

User interface - Qlikview has plenty of options but working with Tableau on the other hand requires less effort. Software forums in general agree that Tableau is better for your blood pressure, comments reflect that things are where you expect them to be and that less IT involvement is required and that Business Users are more likely to succeed with Tableau. At MXI we love demonstrating Tableau because users love the immediate results.

Green & Black- And It’s not chocolate

Not chocolate but a Qlikview search function which users seem to love.  Swedish design at its best .User forums love this feature.  IKEA for BI so to speak. Not quite as good as ABBA but very good none the less.

Aesthetic – Tableau is the clear winner.

MXI installed a 12 Core license of Tableau in June 2011. We asked the customer why he preferred Tableau over Qlikview, the most serious alternative. Despite an exhaustive due diligence process, he limited the answer to “ease of use” and the “astonishing graphics”. When you listen to the Tableau CEO he talks about Tableau helping you think and the effort they put into colour palettes and the “look and feel”. Tableau Data visualisation is really with Manager’s because of its simplicity and clarity. This simplicity is why Tableau is a great product and why the future for Tableau users is so bright.

And The Winner is

No surprises here as the author is biased Tableau inspires and empowers with its ability to find answers in their data without the need go through the filtration (or is that dilution) process demanded by so many IT departments.
