Business Intelligence Keeps The National Motor Club On The Road
What better way to explore the advantages of Tableau business intelligence than to consult the sources, those who use the software everyday. The National Motor Club, a nationwide provider of roadside emergency services based in Texas is just an example. COO Matt Krzysiak explains that getting Tableau into the hands of his decision-makers has been a boon for business, both for understanding the past and growing the company into the future. There are cases where we have reduced costs by hundreds of thousands of dollars as a result of the information we gained out of Tableau Business Intelligence
Applying Tableau Business Intelligence
- Product positioning
- Cost reduction
- Recognizing trends and outliers
- Improved customer service
Tableau has improved cost control for the National Motor Club by helping it concentrate its services where they’re most needed. They use Tableau business intelligence to aid in identifying “hot spots” across the country where emergency services are most often required, specifically its mapping features. By quickly locating those hotspots, the NMC has been able to allot more resources to those areas, working out deals with appropriate dispatchers. The result has been a notable reduction in costs.
There’s also the added benefit of better service to consumers as well. Tableau analysis helped the National Motor Club find dispatchers with “better capabilities.” That’s passed directly on to the customer, thereby immediately improving customer service.
Who Uses Tableau Business Intelligence At National Motor Club?
The NMC has about 10 Tableau desktop users with a server implementation for across the board use. The owner of the company, Jeff Jensen, uses it everyday as does Krzysiak, and the management staff makes wide use of it.
Depending on its application, it’s used in different capacities. The board often uses Tableau for problem-solving and hypothetical scenarios, even when they’re not sure what the question they’re asking is. That’s where the intuitive dashboard is handy, with its drag-and-drop and point-and-click functions. The exploratory aspect of Tableau is invaluable.
Tableau: Before And After
Before the NMC used Tableau, they gathered data from IT the old way, but they found it restrictive. After, the realized the liberation that Tableau business intelligence provides, especially the exploratory potential. For them, it was just a more intuitive and fully-functioning way to process not only existing data, but possible futures.
Tableau A Game Changer
For Krzysiak, he claims the implementation of Tableau has been nothing short of a “game changer.” It democratized data gather and processing and reduced the need to go to one department for that service.
