Self service BI is a phrase which gets a lot of air time at the moment. What does this mean to the average company and how far can we go without an IT department? First of all let us consider what BI means to the average company.

Is Excel BI or not?

If I produce some workbooks, is this not self service BI? 5. Accessible - allow simple distribution to the target audience in a usable form.
6. Mobile - allow access through mobile devices from any location.
7. Scalable - it should scale economically from a single user to hundreds or thousands if required.
